I lost my job at Microsoft today...thanks to a wonderful economy...
by dolphman infor the last few years, many of my friends have lost their jobs and have not found suitable replacements.
most are on unemployment, and those whose unemployment has run out are simply eeking out some meager existence doing something they don't like, that doesn't pay well, and doesn't help to really reduce the stress they face every day.. well, to be honest, i used to laugh my ass off at them.
ha ha ha i would say.

All your recommendations on how to develop a social network....here
by logansrun inone of the most difficult aspects of leaving the jws is finding a new social network to replace the social network you have lost.
finding friends among the jws is not usually a difficult task, but finding them outside the organization can be daunting, especially considering you were told not to develop a social life "in the world.
" discussion boards like this are great...but not enough.

"Run the race. Don't let the race run you."
by onacruse ini'm not a big sports fan (i usually just ignore that section of the newspaper .
now, he knew, and everybody knew, that he didn't have any hope of winning that race, what with the overwhelmingly dominant kenyans and ethiopians as his competitors.. but, he decided to go for it, and took the lead, even if only for one lap (#2 out of 25), and stuck right in the pack for another 3 laps.
he ended up finishing 12th, and walked away as proud as any man or woman could be.. what struck me as i was reading this was that it made me think of how we, as exjws, often feel like we're in a race: a race to make up for lost time, a race to salvage what we can from lost families and friends, a race to reconstruct ourselves, a race to get a retirement fund.. but, as the commentator said: "run the race.

Things kids say & do that bring a lump to your throat
by Simon inyou know what i mean ... when they do something **so** nice that you nearly start to blub !!.
the other day angharad had gone out and i was joking with the kids that with mum gone, they could have a pint of beer with me if they wanted (to see what they would say).. liam (7) told me in an earnest voice "dad, i don't think i'm old enough to drink beer yet.
i think i have to be 16" (16 = grown up to him for everything ... he's already sussing out how old he needs to be to drive).. well, i told him how i was proud he was so sensible and wasn't afraid to stand up and say "no" and that i was really looking forward to when he was old enough to take me out and buy me a pint of beer (ok, father-son moment ... i was getting emotional already).

I have mastered the wireless router!
by Princess inafter months of promising my seven year old son, i have finally set our computer up with dsl.
that isn't such a big deal since we have had broadband cable for at least a couple of years.
the big deal is, i set up a wireless router and connected both computers to a network so we have both computers set up with dsl internet access.. so, after hours of total frustration i gave up.

Best South Park episode, cast your vote
by DanTheMan ini have only been watching sp for the past year or so, so i'm sure there's a lot of episodes i haven't seen, and i'm obviously a little late getting on the bandwagon.
but a couple of weekends ago they did a "25 most outrageous episodes" thing, and one of the episodes was where cartman had this j-lo hand puppet where he recorded songs and did some *ahem* other things involving ben affleck.
i don't remember laughing at anything so hard in my life.. oh, and of course the episode with mr. hankey and his drunken, verbally abusive wife.. so what's your fave?
